We are currently recruiting for a Structural Calculations Engineer to be placed in Brussels with our transmission system operator client on a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension. The main function is to be responsible for the engineering of the high-voltage lines and their pylons/structures used within their electrical infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the study, design of new pylons or modifications to existing structures
• Carrying out specialized calculations, drawing up and following up the planning of the studies taking into account the requirements and the requests of the customers.
• Guiding designers in the development of the calculation models, both to internal employees and external design agencies
• Preparing the tender files and participating in the procurement process.
• The delivery of the produced masts, structures at the manufacturer or in the test environment
• Technical support for the execution in the field as well as the preparation of the works in collaboration with the relevant employees within the Group, as well as project managers, suppliers, contractors, customers, etc.
• Quality management monitoring, auditing and reporting
• Take the necessary steps for the optimization and implementation of the calculation rules in the software tools used.
• The expert engineer will be active within the Engineering department and will be involved in various projects related to new high-voltage pylons, modifications to existing structures
  
  

Skills / Qualifications

• Master's degree in mechanics, architecture, architecture or master's degree in physics
• Affinity for technical detailed studies
• Knowledge and experience in the design of steel structures
• Utilization of Engineering software, 3D, Finite Element software
• Be familiar with relevant standards: e.g. Eurocodes
• Strong sense of responsibility and good organizational talent
• Someone who can function well in a team
• Experience with expertise and/or engineering activity is a plus
• Knowledge of MsProject, VB.NET, VBA scripting, Fortran is a plus
• Excellent knowledge of Dutch or French and a basic knowledge of the other national language
