Summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Statutory and Global Transfer Pricing Controller, reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, to oversee statutory accounting and reporting across our global operations and legal entities, ensuring compliance with IFRS, local GAAP and other regulations.

In addition, the position will oversee the firm’s global transfer pricing function to ensure the interactions of all legal entities appropriately follow required accounting and tax policies.

The Statutory and Global Transfer Pricing Controller will lead a global team of accounting professionals (about 80 people) and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support the company's business objectives.

The successful candidate will have experience working in a global ERP environment, and preferably with the operations and commercial practices of digitally enabled subscription business models. The candidate will also have a track record of using modern technology and automation to drive continuous process improvements and strong internal control.

About The Role

As Statutory and Global Transfer Pricing Controller you will:

  • Oversee the preparation and review of statutory financial statements in compliance with IFRS, US GAAP and/or with Local GAAP requirements, including all notes and disclosures.
  • Establish and maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard company assets, prevent fraud, and ensure the accuracy of financial data. Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audit certification process.
  • Experience in indirect taxes and related processes
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting across all required statutory entities, essentially all of our non-US entities with some exceptions.
  • Oversee the firm’s global transfer pricing practices, working closely with the Global Tax Team, ensuring compliance with international tax laws and regulations. Collaborate with internal global tax team and external tax advisors to optimize tax positions and mitigate risks.
  • Serve as a member of the Board of Directors of key subsidiaries
  • Coordination of calendar and activities with external auditors, tax department and service providers
  • Constantly look for improvement opportunities and drive implementation (compliance, quality, and process efficiency).
  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead and manage a diverse and remote team across multiple time zones.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment, encouraging professional development and growth, and succession planning.
    • Implement effective communication strategies to ensure seamless operations across global teams.
  • Operational and Technical Expertise:
    • Provide technical accounting guidance and support to the finance team and other departments.
    • Drive process improvements and efficiencies in accounting and reporting functions and financial operations
    • Act as a key advisor to senior management on financial and operational matters.


About You

To be considered for the role of Statutory and Global Transfer Pricing Controller you will have:

  • Experience working in a large, global software/SaaS, technology or relevant organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in accounting and finance roles within large international organizations.
  • Proven experience with Big 4 accounting firms and industry experience is essential.
  • Strong expertise in IFRS, US GAAP, local GAAP and tax accounting.
  • Demonstrated operational experience with the ability to translate technical knowledge into practical applications, with clear, succinct communication
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a proven track record of managing and developing remote teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
  • Experience in building and maintaining a SOX control framework.
  • Experience in a fast-paced and complex organizational environment.
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to drive change and innovation.
