Preferred Qualifications Position Summary The State SNAP-Ed Program Assistant is a para‐professional who works with the UGA SNAP-Ed State team and County Extension Agents to support and deliver the SNAP-Ed programming in an assigned geographic area. This employee works cooperatively with all Extension faculty and staff where applicable and reports to administratively the UGA SNAP-Ed Program Coordinator and Nutrition Education Coordinator. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies * Ability to relate effectively with adults, youth, and families with limited resources. * Experience and skills in informal teaching, particularly in locations where individual with limited resources live and work. * Strong and effective communication skills and experience engaging diverse groups and organizations * Proficient in leading virtual meetings and delivering online education utilizing platforms such as Zoom, YouTube, Facebook, among others. Physical Demands * Some degree of physical activity, including lifting, to conduct programs (e.g., handling supplies and demonstration materials, audio/visual equipment, etc.). * Some standing and/or sitting for various lengths of time. * Working in various seasonal weather conditions for outside activities. * Driving as needed to perform job duties. Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities * Responsible for paraprofessional work under the supervision and direction of the Program Coordinator and Nutrition Education Coordinator. * Plans, organizes, schedules, and conducts nutrition and food safety classes for limited-resource clients, including youth and adults with children at various assigned locations at flexible times of the day, including non-traditional programming hours (e.g., evenings and weekends) * Assists the state staff in providing information requested by clients and exhibiting qualities of independent judgment. * Assist with organizing, conducting, and assisting in the evaluation of nutrition education programs for low-income adults and youth. * Support the work of staff members to ensure that program goals are met and resources are used effectively. Percentage of time 60 Duties/Responsibilities * Coordinates and implements various outreach activities to promote eLearning, and social marketing campaigns. * Conducts outreach events and recruits direct program participants. Assists ongoing and new Policy, Systems, and Environmental change (PSE) interventions (e.g., identifying food pantries in selected communities for needs assessment, environmental scan, cooking demonstration, nutrition education, and PSE activities). Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities * Assists the state staff with new employee training sessions and onboarding activities. * Assists the training and coordination of volunteers for various SNAP-Ed nutrition education and outreach activities. Percentage of time 10 Duties/Responsibilities * Assists with Extension / SNAP-Ed events across the state.
