The Security Research Organization at Datadog conducts cutting-edge research in Cloud Security, Threat Intelligence & Research, and Detection Engineering. The team uses this research to improve the quality of Datadog's portfolio of cloud security products, partner with cloud service providers to remediate vulnerabilities, and share their findings with the community. As a part of the Security Research organization, you will join a diverse team of hackers, researchers, and builders who consistently deliver industry-leading research.
As a Staff Software Engineer reporting directly to the Senior Director of Security Research, you will be pushing the bounds and owning how we integrate research output to different Datadog products and productionize research infrastructure for fields that span Detection Engineering, Threat Intelligence and Threat Hunting. You'll design, architect, and lead execution for experiences and systems that get us closer to real-time understanding of how threats and vulnerabilities are emerging by unlocking Datadog's role as the security observability platform for thousands of cloud-native environments.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.
What You'll Do:
* Be the technical owner of critical Security Research roadmap initiatives
* Own delivery of the systems you architect from beginning-to-end, doing what it takes to get things shipped and at full scale in production
* Design and execute large multi-quarter cross-org projects with various technical stakeholders and contributors
* Write code in modern coding languages (Golang, Python, and occasionally Java and Javascript) in a microservice-oriented, multi-cloud environment
* Level up the bar of software engineering within Security Research via technical mentorship and process design
Who You Are

* You have deep experience working on platforms that support cybersecurity use cases, especially in threat detection, intelligence and hunting
* You are an expert in data-intensive, event-driven engineering
* You are an expert working in multi-cloud, multi-regional scale platforms
* You believe in solutions over systems: you have experience making root software engineering problems simpler
