We’re creating a UI that enables seamless, intuitive collaboration between humans and AI across a wide range of tasks — from inbox management and writing, to complex data analysis and beyond. We're seeking a talented, driven, and experienced software engineer passionate about crafting exceptional user experiences to help elevate Shortwave to new heights.

The compensation for this role ranges from $200k to $250k salary, with equity between 1% and 1.5%.

Responsibilities

• Prototype, build, and refine user experiences end-to-end, collaborating closely with customers from initial concepts through final delivery and validation.
• Proactively identify usability, discoverability, and other product challenges; prioritize effectively and lead the charge in solving them.
• Own and evolve our frontend component library to enhance both user experience and development velocity across the team.
• Champion the overall quality of our applications, taking initiative to ensure our users consistently have exceptional experiences.
• Step up to tackle challenges across the business—we're a small team and thrive on collective ownership!
  
  

Qualifications

• Proven success designing, building, and owning sophisticated, user-facing applications with intuitive, user-friendly interfaces.
• Strong frontend engineering expertise, with deep experience in Typescript and React.
• Versatility to contribute across our entire technology stack as needed, including backend and mobile. Our stack includes Swift, Kotlin, GCP, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, and Pinecone.
• An AI-first mindset, actively using cutting-edge AI tools to boost personal productivity in coding, research, communication, and beyond.
• Exceptional product intuition, combined with a relentless commitment to shipping high-quality products that delight users.
• Excellent problem-solving, project management, leadership, and communication skills.
• Bonus points: Experience building agentic AI systems or training custom AI models.
