Job Title: Staff Platform Engineer – EventHub

Location: Manyata Tech Park, Bangalore

Business & Team: CTO-Cloud Integration

Impact &contribution: The cloud movement at CommBank is going strong and continues to grow. We are looking for out of the box thinkers who want to use technology to work on real-world problems that have the potential to change the lives of our 17 million+ customers. The successful applicant will join a team tasked to build and operate 10+ Confluent Kafka clusters for the bank. You will be expected to continuously improve the platform through DevSecOps model. The team has very technical individuals who loves AWS and Kafka.

Roles & responsibilities:

  • Ensure the platform is running 24/7 and respond to incidents as needed.
  • Design and build all aspects of an enterprise Kafka platform, e.g. tooling, CI/CD, Security, Observability.
  • Mentor other engineers to uplift the engineering quality and velocity.
  • Share engineering knowledge through presentation, blogs, videos with the broader engineering community.
  • Collaborate with Product Owner and team to create relevant engineering roadmaps.

Essential skills:

  • Minimum 13 years of experience.
  • Platform Engineering Experience with Event streaming, AWS MSK and Confluent Kafka.
  • Hands on experience with GitOps, ArgoCD, Kafka API and Terraform.
  • Experience with installing, upgrading, maintaining Kafka Clusters.
  • Have very good system design/architecture knowledge.
  • Highly proficient working with various scripting/programming languages such as Python or Golang is a must.
  • Have very good understanding of Kafka Schema Registry, Kraft and Kafka brokers technology is a must.
  • Advanced knowledge in Linux internal and be able to troubleshoot complex issues is desirable.
  • Have good understanding on Kubernetes and Containerization.

Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology.
