Summary

Overview

Our client is developing rugged, multi-purpose humanoid robots built to do real work in the real world. The founding team has decades of experience in humanoid robotics, bionics, and high-impact hardware—designs that have operated deep underwater, in space, and even appeared on a U.S. postage stamp. They’re now building a world-class team to bring their humanoid robot to market—and are seeking a Staff/Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design of the robot’s hand and end-effector systems.

Day-to-Day

  • Own the design of human-like, dexterous hand systems for a humanoid robot
  • Drive concepts from sketch through CAD, prototyping, testing, and production
  • Solve complex mechanical challenges involving actuation, manipulation, and packaging
  • Collaborate with electrical, controls, software, and ID teams to ensure seamless integration
  • Work closely with manufacturing partners to bring high-quality parts to life

Must Haves

  • 7+ years of mechanical design experience (5+ with an advanced degree)
  • A strong portfolio of shipped hardware (robotics, consumer, medical, aerospace, or automotive)
  • Deep experience with CAD and precision mechanical design
  • Comfort designing for mass manufacturing (DFM, injection molding, etc.)
  • Strong fundamentals: statics, dynamics, FEA, tolerance analysis, GD&T

Plusses

  • Experience with humanoid robots, exoskeletons, or robotic manipulators
  • Hands-on work with motors, transmissions, cable drives, and high-DOF systems
  • Familiarity with wire harnessing, flex circuits, or compact electronic packaging
  • A passion for building beautiful, functional systems that work in the real world
