Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and emotionally intelligent Staff Development Manager to lead recruiting, onboarding, training, and team development for a busy seasonal restaurant. This newly created leadership role is part of a broader organizational restructuring and will report directly to ownership while working in close collaboration with the General Manager.

This is not an operations-heavy role—it's designed for someone passionate about building high-performing teams, improving training systems, and creating a positive and accountable work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead full-cycle recruiting and onboarding for seasonal and year-round roles
• Own weekly scheduling and labor planning (via Homebase or similar platform)
• Develop and implement structured training programs for front- and back-of-house teams
• Cultivate a culture of objectivity, fairness, and accountability in staffing and development decisions
• Design and execute a seasonal hiring strategy to ensure readiness ahead of peak periods
• Maintain floor presence to support service execution, guest relations, and staff morale
• Manage performance evaluations, promotions, raises, and performance improvement plans (PIPs)
• Serve as a liaison between staff and leadership to strengthen communication and workplace culture

Ideal Candidate Background:

• 3+ years in hospitality management, staff development, or team leadership roles
• Experience in seasonal, high-traffic, or resort-style food & beverage operations
• Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
• Proven ability to design and lead effective training and onboarding programs
• HR or staffing experience strongly preferred
• A strategic thinker with a hands-on attitude and bias for action
• Highly organized with a focus on people, systems, and long-term team growth

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary: $75,000 – $85,000 base (commensurate with experience)
