We're looking for a deeply technical, visionary engineer to expand the core components of our 3D data platform. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating advanced research into practical, production-ready solutions and who is comfortable taking ownership while working closely with cross-functional teams.

You’ll be joining a world-class team of engineers and researchers building intelligent systems that solve real-world spatial problems. Your work will span theory, experimentation, and deployment, and you'll play a pivotal role in bringing scalable, high-performing computer vision systems into production.

You will contribute by

In this role, you will lead the design and development of advanced computer vision algorithms and pipelines focused on 3D reconstruction, scene understanding, and structured semantic modeling. You will own the full lifecycle of these solutions — from rapid prototyping to delivering robust, production-grade software that powers our 3D measurement and visualization products. Success in this role requires close collaboration with a cross-functional team of designers, frontend and backend engineers, graphics specialists, and devops professionals to ensure seamless integration across the platform. As a technical leader, you’ll mentor engineers, influence architectural decisions, and contribute to shaping the strategic roadmap for our vision-based capabilities. You'll also act as a key bridge between research and engineering, staying at the cutting edge of the field while ensuring that your innovations deliver tangible business impact.

Your background includes

  • Substantial experience developing algorithms for 3D reconstruction either in an academic research or industrial setting
  • Deep theoretical understanding and practical experience building deep learning models in one or more of the following areas: Multi-view geometry, Object detection and localization, Pose estimation, Structured 3D Reconstruction, Model fitting and Optimization
  • A track record of technical ownership and the ability to independently drive projects from conception to delivery.
  • Highly competitive and passionate about solving hard technical problems
  • Have an entrepreneurial mindset and be able to thrive amidst ambiguity & uncertainty
  • Creative problem solving skills and excellent software development skills
  • Comfortable building prototypes in either C++ or Python
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field


Nice to haves

  • PhD related to 3D Reconstruction
  • Strong track record of research in related areas, with publications in top-tier venues such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV
  • Practical experience in writing robust and maintainable production code

Hybrid roles at Hover

Hover has Hubs in San Francisco and New York City, where we expect that all employees living within a 50-mile radius of our offices will come into their local Hover office at least three times a week to build rapport and foster organic connection. At this time, Hover is not considering fully remote roles.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000 - $278,000 annually. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all applicable US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
