Summary

We are the movers of the world and the makers of the future. We get up every day, roll up our sleeves and build a better world -- together. At Ford, we're all a part of something bigger than ourselves. Are you ready to change the way the world moves? Ford's Electric Vehicles, Digital and Design (EVDD) team is charged with delivering the company's vision of a fully electric transportation future. EVDD is customer-obsessed, entrepreneurial, and data-driven and is dedicated to delivering industry-leading customer experience for electric vehicle buyers and owners. You'll join an agile team of doers pioneering our EV future by working collaboratively, staying focused on only what matters, and delivering excellence day in and day out. Join us to make positive change by helping build a better world where every person is free to move and pursue their dreams. The Chassis Software Systems Engineer will focus on the systems engineering aspects of chassis development, contributing to the left side of the V-model. You will be responsible for defining requirements, system architecture, and verification planning to ensure robust design and performance of chassis systems. This will include L0 to L3 feature and function requirements for electronic brake and steering software amongst other chassis controllers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including functional safety to deliver optimized and validated solutions. What you'll do... * Define and document software/system design and requirements (feature + function) from L0 through L3 for chassis systems, including steering and braking. Feature owner from conceptualization to deployment writing performance and functional requirements at a system and subsystem level. * Monitor and manage full system-level requirements for the overall built system and ensure that the system meets the intended requirements * Create system requirements and subsystem requirements and define system bounds, capabilities, and functional features * Convert customer needs into system requirements and devise operational objectives for the system as a whole. * Work with functional safety team to make sure all aspect safety goals and requirements are captured and implemented. * Monitor and manage validation and verification of requirements at the system and subsystem level. * Work with project managers and integration engineers to plan new features and use cases * Develop system architecture models using MBSE tools, such as SysML, to capture requirements, interfaces, and performance characteristics. * Design features in an ML environment to build logical and functional architectures using behavioral diagrams, sequence diagrams and state machines. * Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment between system requirements and vehicle-level performance targets. * Conduct trade-off studies and simulations to optimize chassis system performance and design choices. * Develop and manage system requirements traceability throughout the product lifecycle. * Define verification and validation strategies, including test plans for requirements-based testing. * Support system safety analysis efforts, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and functional safety (ISO 26262). * Ensure that requirements and design documents are maintained and updated according to engineering change processes. * Lead system-level reviews, such as design reviews, requirements reviews, and verification reviews. * Collaborate with software and hardware teams to ensure system requirements are understood and implemented accurately.
