We are looking for a Staff Battery System Engineer to join our team. The goal of a Staff Battery System Engineer at Wisk is to work on system engineering activities for EPSP, Battery pack, power distribution, Charging and Power conversion. You will be part of the ESPS (Energy Storage & Power System) team that is accountable to deliver the ESPS system engineering solutions including certification for the Wisk Gen6 autonomous vehicle.

Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity. You will be required to work from our Mountain view office.

Responsibilities

  • Define and decompose functions of the energy storage and power system through collaboration with cross functional teams to define interface, system definition, and functional requirements.
  • Specialize in one or more of the following logical systems – HV distribution, power conversion, thermal management, battery energy storage, charging, Battery Management System.
  • Work with the team to define use cases, system diagrams, requirements, DVP&R, EOL, FMEA,
  • Drive innovative technical solutions that enable the best overall product performance
  • Work in a cross functional environment including design, software and manufacturing
  • Drive Energy Storage and Power system aircraft certification process
  • Track and communicate sub-system requirements specifications, validation test procedures & requirements verification
  • Work on system architecture definition and issue resolution for early prototype systems and aircraft
  • Work cross functionally across HW, SW ESS teams to align across teams to develop powertrain, vehicle architecture through trade studies, proof of concept, modellings and strategic analysis
  • Work with manufacturing to help develop optimized ‘End of Line’ procedures for Energy Storage and Power systems
  • Carry out data analysis to root cause field failures and help drive resolution to critical issues. 

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in HV systems, battery systems and/or EV, Aviation, aerospace industries
  • Experience in one or more of the following system areas – HV distribution, power conversion, thermal management, battery energy storage, passive safety, battery management systems
  • Experience with requirement development for HV safety critical systems
  • Solid understanding of engineering first principles and system engineering
  • Experience with full life cycle aviation system certification process
  • Fundamental understanding of battery technology, high-voltage safety and controls
  • Experience performing or participating in FMEA and building DVP&R for high voltage systems
  • Ability to quickly comprehend complex systems, identify problems and effectively coordinate an action plan to drive decisions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments
  • Ability to solve open-ended engineering problems using systems level thinking
  • A detail-oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills
  • Ownership mindset, enthusiasm, and a collaborative spirit

Desired

  • Aviation or Automotive industry experience
  • Experience with electrical powertrain systems
  • Experience with DO-311A, DO-160, DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160G, etc
  • Experience with APR4761, APR4754
  • Knowledge of FAA, EASA regulation and guidance

Job Type: Full-time

Pay Range the Company expects to pay: $177,529 - $208,857 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
