We are looking for a Staff Battery Data Engineer to join our team. The goal of a Staff Battery Data Engineer at Wisk is to be responsible for battery data framework, acquisition and analysis. You will be part of the Energy Storage Power System Integrated Team that specializes in power management and distribution to the Wisk Aircraft.

This is a hybrid work opportunity. At Wisk, this means working onsite at our Mountain View office 3 days per week with flexibility for the remainder of the days.

In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the successful execution of battery projects. Your exceptional project management skills, coupled with your expertise in battery systems. This position will focus on the leading and managing battery management system and cell engineering process, design, manufacturing, testing, integration and production efforts. This position will play a critical role to ensure we meet our development and customer delivery timelines. You will also be responsible for identifying areas for improvement, helping to identify proper metrics and provide comprehensive training to Product Owners.

Responsibility

  • Data Analysis: analyze time-series data from battery system, including charge/discharge cycles, temperature behavior, degradation patterns, and fault events
  • Cell Registration management: Oversee the registration of battery cells, ensuring accurate tracking, labeling, and integration into test systems
  • Test Automation: Develop and manage automation tools for battery testing, including workflows for charge/discharge cycles, thermal testing, and life cycle experiments
  • Performance optimization: Crate models to optimize battery usage, balancing power demands, safety, and longevity
  • Diagnostics & Prediction: Design predictive analytics tools to anticipate failures, thermal events, or inefficiencies using machine learning and statistical techniques.
  • Visualization: Create dashboards and visualizations for real-time monitoring of battery health, performance, and test results
  • Collaboration: Work closely with battery engineers, BMS developers, and flight operations team to translate insights into actionable recommendations
  • Reporting: Present findings to stakeholders and contribute to technical reports, publications and presentations
  • Compliance: Ensure all processes comply with safety, quality and aviation regulatory standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Materials Science, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master's or Ph.D. degree is preferred.
  • Has 8 years experience working with Engineering Teams and/ or an Aerospace Environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and relevant data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Experience with other programming languages relevant to automation (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB) is a plus.
  • Expertise in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and creating insightful visualizations using tools such as Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly, Tableau, or Grafana.
  • Familiarity with database technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL) and data warehousing concepts.
  • Experience with developing and managing automation scripts and workflows for data collection and processing
  • Strong understanding of battery technologies is helpful, but not required
  • Proven experience in developing and managing automation tools for data acquisition and analysis, preferably in a testing or laboratory environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay Range the Company expects to pay: $150,144 - $176,640 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
