Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will support The Fallon Company’s financial operations by maintaining accurate records and ensuring timely and precise financial reporting. This role will involve working across multiple departments to support project accounting, cost tracking, and overall financial integrity for our commercial real estate investments.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including journal entries and adjustments for our commercial real estate projects.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and industry standards.
- Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee the coding, tracking, and reporting of all project-related expenses and revenues.
- Bank and Account Reconciliation: Reconcile bank and credit card statements, especially those associated with property portfolios and construction accounts.
- Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers to track construction costs, manage budget variances, and support development cost analysis.
- Audit Preparation: Prepare necessary documentation and assist with internal and external audits, particularly those involving real estate investment and construction.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to process improvements within the accounting function to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2+ years of accounting experience, with commercial real estate or development experience preferred.
- Knowledge of GAAP with a strong understanding of real estate accounting practices.
- Proficiency in real estate accounting software. Experience with Yardi, Northspyre, Concur, MRI, and QuickBooks preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and data analysis.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused approach.
