Job Description for Sr. Technical Manager

We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Senior Manager – Data Engineering with thought leadership to lead a team of data engineers in building and maintaining scalable, high-performance data platforms and pipelines. This role will be responsible to ensure the efficient development, implementation, and optimization of data architecture, data quality, and enabling advanced data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities And Core Competencies

Leadership & Strategy

• Responsible for managing and delivering multiple Pharma projects.
• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance and career development support.
• Strong client and stakeholder management. Collaboration working style across verticals.
• Introducing new Data Capabilities (in Data Management, Data Quality, Data Governance, Master and Reference Data) and enforce best practices for data engineering.
• Proven experience in driving business development initiatives, including crafting proposals, responding to RFIs/RFPs, and successfully closing strategic data deals.
  
  

Required Technical Skills

• Proficient in Python, Pyspark, SQL
• Extensive experience in big data and cloud technologies like AWS (Glue, EMR, Redshift, S3, Athena), Azure (ADF, Synapse, Blob Storage), Databricks etc.
• Strong experience working with cloud data lakes/ warehouses using Snowflake, AWS Redshift, Azure etc.
• Good exposure to ETL, Data Modelling, designing ETL pipelines.
• Sound knowledge in Data management, operations, quality etc.
• Enforcing data governance, metadata management, and data lineage.
  
  

Project Management

• Exposure to Project management techniques and methodologies including Agile and Waterfall.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, margins and resources effectively.
• Ensure timely delivery of high-impact data projects/ products and infrastructure.
• Evaluate and integrate new tools and technologies aligned with business and technical goals.
• Define and track key performance metrics to monitor the team efficiency.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Engineering/ MCA or equivalent degree.
• 11-13 years of experience in data engineering with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
• Minimum 5-7 years of Pharma and Life Science domain exposure in IQVIA, Veeva, Symphony, IMS etc.
• High motivation, good work ethic, maturity, self-organized and personal initiative.
• Ability to work collaboratively and providing support across verticals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
