An early-stage mobility startup is building a hybrid CNG + EV drivetrain for 3-wheelers — starting with a prototype. We’re looking for a Lead Engineer who brings deep technical experience and the ability to guide a small technical team from zero to a working product.

This is not a corporate R&D setup. It’s raw, hands-on, and impact-driven. The person in this role will be a critical brain and pair of hands — guiding the design, sourcing, build, and testing of the hybrid powertrain.

• Lead the end-to-end drivetrain design and integration — from motor and CNG coupling to gearbox, controller, and battery
• Translate high-level product vision into actionable engineering plans
• Guide (and if needed, help hire) a small technical crew of mechanics, junior engineers, and vendors
• Build early prototypes using existing e-rickshaw/CNG platforms as base vehicles
• Identify key suppliers and sourcing channels (local or international) for motors, controllers, batteries, kits
• Validate and test performance, safety, and integration feasibility
• Help lay the foundation for IP development and future production scaling

• 6+ years of experience in powertrain engineering, vehicle integration, or EV/CNG retrofit projects
• Strong grasp of electric motors, controllers, BMS, battery sizing, and CNG engine systems
• Experience with low-speed vehicle platforms, especially 2W/3W is a huge advantage
• Proven ability to work hands-on with vehicles — not just simulations or desk-based work
• Comfortable guiding junior engineers/technicians and coordinating fabrication or assembly vendors
• Familiarity with Indian automotive supply chain, especially small-format EV and CNG kits
• Strong documentation and testing mindset — understands that failure is data

• Previous experience in a mobility startup or early-stage hardware product
• Network of trusted local vendors, scrap markets, or automotive workshops
