Background information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS) Integration Lead with virtualization experience to be based in our Fall River, MA office. This individual will work with a fast-paced team of mission-focused engineers to solve some of the DoD's toughest challenges. Initiative, creativity, reliability, and efficient teamwork will be required to successfully deliver innovative solutions in this dynamic customer space.
Overview:
IDT is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Submarine Warfare Federated Tactical Systems (SWFTS) Lead Systems Integrator to lead advanced integration efforts for tactical submarine platforms. This individual will drive the deployment and sustainment of IDT's Automated Test and Re-Test (ATRT) Enterprise Platform (AEP) within secure, government-classified environments, enabling digital test, verification, and kill chain execution for U.S. Navy submarine systems.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the integration of tactical systems using virtualization, hardware/software emulation, and model-based engineering techniques within an Integrated Digital Engineering Environment (IDEE). This role requires a deep understanding of submarine combat systems and mission priorities, as well as the technical leadership to guide complex system-of-systems (SoS) digital transformation initiatives.
All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.
Applicants who currently have a U.S. Security Clearance are preferred.
Responsibilities Include:
* Architect and implement integration strategies for SWFTS tactical systems-including sonar, Acoustic Rapid Commercial Off-The-Shelf Insertion (A-RCI) / AN/BYG-1, Integrated Submarine Imaging System (ISIS), Electronic Surveillance (ES) systems, torpedoes, Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUVs), and Tomahawk weapons-within secure, virtualized test environments.
* Analyze existing digital system representations to assess fidelity, operational accuracy, and cross-system compatibility.
* Collaborate with U.S. Navy program offices and technical stakeholders to obtain, validate, and expand digital system artifacts required for mission-aligned testing and simulation.
* Lead verification, validation, and routine refresh of system models and integrated simulations to ensure continued alignment with evolving fleet configurations.
* Oversee the deployment and lifecycle management of IDT's ATRT AEP test platform within classified settings, enabling continuous test automation for kill chain mission threads.
* Serve as the primary technical interface with government stakeholders, IDT engineering teams, and mission operators to align engineering efforts with Navy priorities.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or related technical field (Master's preferred).
* At least 10 years of experience in the defense sector, with a focus on submarine systems, SWFTS architecture, and digital test environments.
* Proven experience in the design, implementation, and management of virtualized environments, hardware emulation, and model-based engineering (MBE) solutions.
* Deep familiarity with DoD operational and tactical networks, including information assurance and security policy enforcement.
Required skills:
* Proven leadership of multi-disciplinary engineering teams responsible for system-of-systems (SoS) integration within highly regulated, mission-critical environments.
* Expertise in architecting and executing integration strategies for complex submarine tactical systems, including sonar, combat control, weapons control, EW, and navigation subsystems.
* Familiar with virtualized and containerized environments (e.g., VMware, KVM, Docker), with the ability to lead virtualization architecture design for secure test environments.
* Understanding of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices using SysML, with a demonstrated ability to oversee the development and validation of high-fidelity digital system models.
* Demonstrated success in leading full life cycle integration, from concept development through digital asset verification, validation, sustainment, and refresh.
* Effective communicator capable of leading discussions with U.S. Navy stakeholders, interpreting operational priorities, and translating them into actionable integration and testing strategies.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to assess evolving mission needs and proactively shape integration plans that align with both technical requirements and fleet modernization efforts.
* Strong working knowledge of DoD tactical networks, cybersecurity considerations, and classified systems engineering practices.
* Ability to operate independently, prioritize competing demands, and maintain technical oversight across multiple concurrent integration efforts.
Preferred skills:
* Experience working with submarine sensors, combat control, electronic warfare (EW) systems, and navigation subsystems.
* Familiarity with digital twin and distributed maritime operations concepts, including advanced test environments using UUVs.
* Understanding of Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) data workflows and integration practices.
Competencies:
* Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
* Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
* High attention to detail and technical accuracy.
* Strong planning, organizational, and analytical abilities.
* Initiative, integrity, and commitment to mission success.
Pay Range*: $164,000 - $273,000 or $198,000 - $328,000
This amount may not be reflective of actual compensation that may be earned as pay is dependent on a candidate's experience, skills, and education. The posted range does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits. IDT is often looking to place multiple candidates at various levels. Therefore, more than one pay range has been included, commensurate with experience.
