Job Summary

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of our enterprise IT infrastructure. This role is responsible for building secure, scalable, and standardized environments across directory services, server infrastructures, cloud platforms, enterprise applications, and device management systems. The Senior Systems Engineer will drive modernization initiatives, ensure system performance, enforce security best practices, and maintain operational excellence across all platforms. A minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting complex enterprise environments is required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise directory services, including Organizational Units (OUs), security groups, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
  • Administer and maintain Windows Server environments, ensuring system stability, performance, and patch management.
  • Manage and optimize identity and access management platforms, including Azure Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory) for RBAC, conditional access, and identity governance.
  • Support and maintain a hybrid infrastructure environment, integrating on-premises systems with cloud services.
  • Administer and maintain the Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Support cloud services including databases, application hosting platforms, and cloud automation workflows.
  • Administer enterprise collaboration platforms including Office 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams) and ensure seamless integrations.
  • Deploy, configure, and manage mobile and endpoint devices using Microsoft Intune, maintaining compliance and security standards.
  • Support enterprise applications, ensuring high availability, performance tuning, and integration with infrastructure platforms.
  • Lead infrastructure automation initiatives, utilizing scripting tools such as PowerShell.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver infrastructure projects, cloud migrations, security enhancements, and application rollouts.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system designs, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Ensure all systems meet organizational cybersecurity and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Provide senior-level support for critical incidents and escalations, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal business disruption.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position does not have direct reports.

Critical Results

System And Infrastructure Uptime:

Maintain 99% or higher uptime across all critical systems, including servers, Active Directory, cloud platforms, and Nutanix environment.

Critical Incident Response Time:

Begin troubleshooting and resolution activities within 60 minutes for all critical incidents and service interruptions.

Project Delivery And Execution:

Successfully deliver assigned infrastructure and cloud projects on time and within scope at a 95% success rate.

Security And Compliance Adherence:

Achieve 100% compliance with internal security standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices for identity, access, and infrastructure security.

Infrastructure Documentation Accuracy:

Maintain up-to-date documentation for 100% supported systems, reviewed and updated at least twice per year.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field;
  • or equivalent combination of education and a minimum of 5 years of relevant systems engineering experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure management, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience with Active Directory services, including design and administration of OUs, security groups, and GPOs.
  • Strong experience managing Azure Entra ID for identity management and governance.
  • Hands-on experience administering Windows Server platforms (2016, 2019, or 2022).
  • Experience supporting Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure or similar HCI platforms.
  • Strong proficiency managing hybrid cloud/on-premises environments.
  • Experience with Office 365 administration and integrations.
  • Solid skills in modern device management using Microsoft Intune.
  • Skilled in scripting and automation (PowerShell preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise cybersecurity principles and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Professional certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator, or similar.
  • Nutanix certifications (e.g., NCP, NCAP) are highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
  • Prior project leadership or team mentoring experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

This position works under usual office conditions. The employee is required to work at a personal computer as well as be on the phone for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand, sit, walk and occasionally climb. The incumbent must be able to work extended and flexible hours and weekends as needed. Physical demands include ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
