What's the role?
As a Sr Spatial Analyst for the Spatial Data Ingestion and Analytics team you will
provide spatial analytical intelligence to influence, optimise and deliver high-quality data in the most efficient way to solve complex geospatial challenges, working in tandem with other technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You will contribute through your geographical knowledge, proactive analytical thought processes and utilisation of analytical tools to analyse, visualise, model, derive and articulate geospatial data insights from ingested datasets and benchmarking insights to foster a proactive data maintenance culture.
In This Role, You Will
- Evaluate, analyze and transform datasets prior to integration in accordance with HERE specifications to help build and maintain our digital map products and location services.
- Plan, schedule and potentially perform verification as required, depending on the requirements set by the sub-region.
- Query and draw intelligence from centrally generated toolsets.
- Actively research current trends and changes in GIS and spatial related industries.
- Contribute to the integration of a range of internal and external sources into the HERE location data platform. This will consist of a variety of different data formats and feature types such as Points of Interest and Road Features.
- Use your strong technical and analytical skills to identify and implement automation opportunities that increase efficiency of existing data cleansing, transformation and reporting processes.
- Apply your local knowledge of real-world conditions to aid decision making within the context of the database and platform.
- Ensure accurate representation of real-world conditions in the database in a defined geographic area.
- Plan, execute and provide support for projects to be undertaken by fellow Operations and Engineering teams, which often deal with aspects of complex coding and analysis.
- Utilize software such as ArcGIS and FME to conduct high-level analysis and verification of spatial data.
- Implement effective communication and information strategies with the team and its stakeholders.
- Efficiently and effectively respond to urgent stakeholder and customer queries while considering the principles of the company.
- Contribute to resource planning and high-level team coordination activities with the Country Lead. This includes delegation of tasks and responsibilities to junior members of the team.
- Support the Country Lead in supervising and supporting a group of junior-level employees.
- Support the Country Lead as his/her back-up when applicable.

Experience
- Bachelor's degree in GIS/Geography, Business, Science, Technology or related fields.
- 4+ years of related work experience.
- Japan related geographic knowledge/affinity/contextual understanding/cultural awareness.
- Experience in GIS software and spatial datasets along with a keen interest in maps, location data and the spatial industry being highly beneficial.
- Strong analytical experience - prior experience in handling large, complex, high velocity data; familiar with common statistical, analytical and ML techniques; willing to continue to learn/apply new techniques as required.
- Ability to extract, manipulate and transform different data formats, utilising modelling and/or ETL software experience in tools such as FME.
- Python programming experience desirable.
- FME or data manipulation/integration/extraction process modelling experience desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot quality issues and trends across large datasets
- Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English and Japanese.
- Strong presentation skills - Ability to distill insights & articulate an actionable point of view to non-technical audiences; Comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders; Good command of storytelling and presentation techniques (e.g. slide making, data visualisation). Ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions.
- Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organization.
- Ability to collect relevant data and analyze it to produce recommendations and perform root-cause analysis.
- Ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions.
- Experience in Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) required.
- Expertise in a variety of GIS applications and tools (ESRI Products, MapInfo, CAD, Python) is a plus.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and solve problems that may evolve in scope or complexity.
- Ability to operate with self-initiative in dynamic situations.
