Job Description
Primary Function of Position:
The Ion endoluminal system is Intuitive's robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, with an initial goal of improving the early diagnosis of lung cancer. The main responsibility of the position is to lead the design and development of software test automation capabilities for multiple Ion products.
This position requires an individual with strong technical and interpersonal skills, the ability to work effectively and collaboratively with highly technical peers, and the capability to manage work load among multiple priorities. The main focus area of the position is on developing a reliable test automation framework to support the formal verification and validation of Ion software. The role will also include hands on verification/validation, root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and formal design control documentation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Design and develop test automation framework that meets the testing needs for complex medical device software.
* Influence and negotiate with software developers to convert manual testing to automated testing and expand test automation capabilities.
* Design and develop automated test methods and test protocols for functional software verification applying to Ion's System and PlanPoint products.
* Develop requirement/specifications for test automation tools.
* Validation of test automation tools.
* Perform root cause analysis and facilitate timely resolution of issues, including escalation of issues to internal engineering groups as appropriate.
* Support formal Verification and Validation activities (perform test execution, write reports, verify JIRA tickets).
Qualifications
Skill/Job Requirements:
To qualify for this position, a candidate must have:
* Minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline and 4+ years' experience (or Master's degree with 2+ years' experience)
* Ability to design, implement, and document a scalable test automation setup suitable for use and extension by developers from multiple software teams
* Fluency in writing code in at least one programming language and ability to ramp up quickly on oither languages as needed
* Experience with Defect Tracking and Requirements Traceability tools
* Excellent communication (verbal and presentation) and documentation skills
* Ability to work with limited guidance in a fast paced environment
* Possess excellent time management and prioritization skills
* Creative mindset to architect a test automation framework to support the automation of software verification activities.
* Troubleshooting mindset, an ability to systematically and effectively break down a system or process into subparts to identify failure mechanisms
Ideally, a candidate would also have:
* Experience integrating with existing software in a variety of languages (C/C++, Matlab, Python, Go, batch scripting, etc.)
* Experience working with Graphical User Interface Testing tools (Squish, Silktest, etc.)
* Experience with Medical Design Control processes
* Experience with Bug Tracking tools
* Experience with Requirements Management Tools
* Experience with Test Management Tools
