Main Purpose and Major Challenges of the Role
The Retail Operations Manager is a self-starter and people-first leader responsible for shaping the operational strategy, team culture, and executional excellence of all retail locations nationwide. This role requires exceptional business acumen, strong leadership skills, and a hands-on approach to building high-performing teams, standardizing processes, and driving customer-centric operations. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of scaling retail businesses, creating and implementing SOPs, and fostering a culture of accountability and innovation. This is a hybrid role based in Carlsbad CA.
ACCOUNTABILITY: FINANCE & BUSINESS GROWTH
Financial Performance
* Partner with Director of Planning & Retail to ensure financial performance across all retail locations, including budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, and profitability targets.
* Identify opportunities to improve ROI, reduce inefficiencies, and optimize resource allocation.
* Work closely with Director of Retail & Planning and the finance team to ensure accurate reporting and data-driven decision-making.
Strategic Business Growth
* Develop and execute a retail operations strategy that drives performance, efficiency, and profitability.
* Set clear operational goals and performance metrics, using data-driven insights to address challenges proactively.
ACCOUNTABILITY: STORE OPERATIONS
Strategic Leadership
* Build and execute scalable processes and SOPs that support operational excellence in a high-growth environment.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (merchandising, planning, finance, marketing, supply chain) to align business objectives with retail execution.
* Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed retail store goals related to sales and service, payroll, omni-channel, and retail shrink as set by the Company.
Store Operations & Execution Excellence
* Drive consistency and efficiency in store operations by developing, implementing, and optimizing standard operating procedures (SOPs).
* Ensure each location reflects the OK brand, maintaining the highest standards of product quality and customer engagement.
* Implement best-in-class inventory management and staffing strategies to maximize sales, minimize waste, and optimize crew productivity.
* Monitor store-level performance and implement corrective actions to ensure KPIs and financial targets are met.
* Ensure all aspects of loss prevention are considered and observed across the teams.
* Champions all safety best practices. Maintains and executes all safety binder requirements: hosting monthly safety meetings, ensuring tools and resources (ladders, box cutters, etc.) are in working condition, and ensures all associates have completed ladder safety training
* Partner with Store Managers, IT, and external resources to ensure store equipment is properly installed and operational and store maintenance requirements are met.
Customer Experience & Visual Merchandising Execution
* Partner with Brand Marketing to execute the brand's GTM strategies in retail stores ensuring all POP assets are executed and delivered on time.
* Oversee all retail store events from planning to execution.
* Develop and execute visual merchandising strategies and directives to continually refine the in-store experience, ensuring best-in-class service and engagement.
* Support & develop daily routines and best practices for store teams to always ensure a consistent level of visual & commercial standard while maintaining customer service engagement
* Act as a proactive force leveraging visual merchandising to drive sales.
* Directs the merchandising, product flow, and display to create a dynamic experience for the customer
* Assesses store business using Company reporting tools to identify merchant opportunities within product placement, outfitting, and stock levels.
* Identify and integrate technology solutions to enhance the customer journey, improve operational efficiencies, and strengthen brand loyalty.
* Implement training programs that empower teams to create meaningful customer interactions and drive retention and conversion.
ACCOUNTABILITY: STORE DEVELOPMENT
Project Management:
* Manage all aspects of store design and development projects from concept to completion, adhering to budget and timeline constraints.
* Work closely with architects, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of design plans.
* Develop and monitor project timelines, budgets, and procurement schedules.
* Responsible for all company event store execution.
Design Execution:
* Oversee the construction process, including site preparation, permitting, and construction management to ensure adherence to design specifications.
* Conduct quality control inspections throughout construction to maintain design integrity.
* Coordinate the installation of fixtures, signage, lighting, and visual merchandising elements.
Operational Efficiency:
* Optimize store layouts to maximize product visibility, customer flow, and sales potential.
* Incorporate sustainability practices into store design to minimize environmental impact.
* Ensure compliance with all local building codes, ADA regulations, and safety standards.
Collaboration:
* Build strong relationships with internal teams (marketing, merchandising, operations) to align store design with overall business objectives.
* Collaborate with external vendors and consultants to source materials, fixtures, and services.
* Provide support for special events, promotions, and seasonal merchandising displays.

* High level of conceptual creative ability. Strong product sense with proven experience in driving product assortments and partnering with divisional leaders to lead investment strategies that drive business
