Your role

This role is an integral part of Digital Realty’s EMEA Finance Ops team and will play a pivotal role in achieving the EMEA Finance Ops team’s objectives and deliverables. The primary responsibility of the position is to manage a regional portfolio of R2R accountants dedicated to the financial controllership of the operating-property- and management company ledgers and legal entities across Europe under US GAAP and local statutory reporting.

  • Lead the monthly, quarterly & annual reporting under US GAAP and local GAAP for a portfolio of entities & property set of books. Your team has ownership of all entities within the region, ensuring full financial controllership of the P&L and Balance Sheet for each ledger
  • Supervise and manage a virtual R2R team of accountants & assistant accountants with responsibilities across a geographic portfolio of countries in EMEA
  • Working in a matrix model, your R2R move has direct & indirect responsibility for various finance processing areas which feed into the ledgers, including Fixed Assets, Intercompany, AR, Bank & Cash, AP, VAT, etc., as well as other functional teams posting transactions in your ledgers, such as Construction Accounting, Treasury, Tax, SOX Compliance/ Internal Control , etc.
  • Oversee and approve the reviewing & processing of all transactions for your ledgers. Review & approve all balance sheet accounts as part of month end close controls, including pro-active follow-up to remove reconciling items
  • Together with your R2R team you will have full responsibility & ownership for the preparation of statutory financial statements and local statutory audits for a number of entities across Europe, engaging the auditors to plan, manage & complete audits according to the annual EMEA timetable
  • Be a trusted colleague to internal teams such as asset management, sales, FP&A, SOX Compliance/Internal Control and site operations; as well as manage third-party service providers supporting local compliance & tax filings
  • Develop a deep understanding of Digital Realty’s business to be able to input into standardisation of processes across the P2P, O2C and R2R functions, working with colleagues in Europe, Asia and the US.
  • Important contribution to the accounting and internal control systems, and be proactive in leading improvements focused on finance operational excellence
  • Embrace opportunities to be involved in integration and other finance projects

What You’ll Need

  • Qualified accountant, from a top accountancy firm
  • 6 + years’ managerial experience in similar roles, in a multi-national environment
  • Solid experience of Local GAAP & US GAAP
  • Real estate accounting experience & knowledge of lease accounting concepts advantageous
  • Understanding & working knowledge of internal control over financial reporting, in order to be in control as a company and to be compliant in a SOX – environment
  • Strong systems knowledge and intermediate/advanced Excel skills are required
  • Extensive experience at manager level, in a multi-national environment is an advantage
  • Experience of developing and coaching others on a one to one basis
