Job Summary

The primary role of the Senior Quality Engineer is to develop and support company-wide continuous improvement strategies and controls concerning company, customer, and regulatory expectations to ensure compliance is met. This position may be based in either Bloomington, MN or Northfield, MN facility.

Essential Job Duties

  • Support complex, cross-functional quality issues in a variety of subject matter areas and drives resolution and proactive solutions to internal and external customers.
  • Collaborate across functions and sites, leveraging quality and manufacturing expertise to troubleshoot problems, interpret data, and determine next steps based on risk-based approach.
  • Have full working knowledge and understanding of ISO9001, AS9100, and MIL-PRF-31032 or similar quality system requirements.
  • Mentor employees and provide expertise in the development in use of quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, etc., for new or revised product and process development initiatives.
  • Review and approval of process and product validations, including completion of IQ, OQ, PQ protocols.
  • Create, revise, and review quality processes and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant requirements.
  • Monitor and assure the proper disposition of materials and products in non-conforming status.
  • Responsibility for customer quality activities, including contract review, quality planning, PCN, CAR, RMA, FAIR, and PPAP. Development customer and product specific inspection criteria when required.
  • Develop and provide training for operations and support staff to build awareness of the quality system and quality methodologies.
  • Coordinate management objectives with the production floor to meet company goals by communicating company policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Review industry and customer technical specifications to ensure compliance to requirements.
  • Manage assignment and closure of audit findings, CARs, and RMAs. Recommends and assists, as necessary, in the implementation of root cause corrective action activity.
  • Proactively investigating, identifying, and implementing best-in-class quality engineering practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education

  • Advanced degree in engineering, manufacturing operations or related. Prior related experience may be substituted for advanced degree.

Experience And/or Training

  • Minimum of 10 years of related quality engineering experience.
  • Quality experience with PCBs, flexible heaters, and assemblies is desired.

  • N/A

Technology/Equipment

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft office) and excellent technical, “hands on” skills.

Travel

  • Between Bloomington and Northfield sites.

Additional Skill Set

  • Knowledge of principles and applications of statistical methods including statistical problem solving, DMAIC and 6sigma methodology and software e.g. Minitab.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, and/or visual aids.
  • Ability to use complex measurement tools e.g. CMM.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Must possess strong leadership skills including well developed communication and problem-solving skills and the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results. Must be self-motivated and detail oriented.
