Tesla is seeking a proactive Sr. Project Engineer to scope, plan, and execute factory development engineering initiatives. This role is critical in optimizing our manufacturing infrastructure through equipment installation, space planning, layout design, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will balance technical expertise with project management skills to drive projects from concept to completion.
What You'll Do
Project Management: Lead end-to-end project execution using tools like JIRA to track timelines, budgets, and resources. Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements and waste reductionStatistical Analysis & Process Scale-Up: Perform statistical analysis to optimize workflows, validate equipment installations, and ensure seamless scaling of manufacturing processesLayout Design & Space Planning: Develop precise factory layouts using AutoCAD, allocating space for equipment, workflows, and expansion while balancing safety and efficiencyCross-Team Collaboration: Partner with workplace, construction, operations, R&D, vendors, and leadership to align priorities, resolve bottlenecks, and execute projects with a “get it done” attitudeTechnical Documentation: Prepare clear technical reports, SOPs, and project updates with strong technical writing skillsTool & Software Proficiency: Utilize programming skills (e.g., Python, SQL) and tools like JIRA for automation, data analysis, and project trackingInitiative & Growth Mindset: Proactively identify opportunities for innovation, process optimization, and cost savings. Lead troubleshooting efforts for equipment installs or workflow challengesCompliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to 6 Sigma standards, OSHA regulations, and internal safety protocols in all projects
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience3+ years in factory/plant engineering, process scale-up, or manufacturing project managementHands-on experience with equipment installation, space allocation, and AutoCAD-based layout designProficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Excel, JMP) and Lean Six Sigma methodologies Experience with Project management tools (JIRA, MS Project) Programming skills – Python, SQL, or similarTechnical writing for SOPs, reports, and compliance documentationAbility to lead cross-functional collaboration and drive projectsStrong communication skills

Expected Compensation
$80,000 - $174,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
