Position Summary
They are seeking for a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to support and lead various aspects of complex public works construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in managing day-to-day project operations including scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor coordination, and quality control.
Support the Project Manager with procurement, subcontractor buyouts, and contract administration.
Coordinate submittals, RFIs, change orders, and other project documentation in compliance with public agency requirements.
Participate in weekly progress meetings and maintain communication with clients, consultants, and field teams.
Monitor project progress, track deliverables, and ensure adherence to safety and compliance standards.
Collaborate with Superintendents to resolve field issues and support on-site execution.
Manage project documentation and reporting using construction management software.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred, NOT required.
2-3 years of GC experience.
Familiarity with California public agency projects (e.g., Caltrans, DSA, City/County of Sacramento, water districts).
Strong understanding of public contracting, prevailing wage compliance, and documentation standards.
Proficient in project management tools (Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Excel).
Ability to read and interpret civil and structural plans and specifications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Caltrans specifications, SWPPP, and QA/QC procedures.
OSHA 30-hour certification.
Experience supporting multi-disciplinary projects with budgets between $5M–$50M.
