Job Title: Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
Join a dynamic Product Development department at the US headquarters of a leading manufacturer specializing in refrigeration and food service products. As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for performing mechanical design tasks for refrigeration and heating appliances, utilizing SolidWorks and adhering to environmental and safety standards such as UL, CSA, TUV, and EPA.
Responsibilities
* Develop a comprehensive understanding of the product line, including design features, process capabilities, and cost structure.
* Utilize the New Product Development Process to manage projects effectively.
* Create detailed project plans with defined tasks, schedules, and responsibilities to meet project deadlines.
* Apply product knowledge and refrigeration engineering fundamentals to complete project design work.
* Develop testing scenarios and collaborate with test labs to ensure designs meet specifications.
* Support production implementation through participation in design reviews and pilot implementations.
* Implement corrections noted during design reviews and pilot activities.
* Take initiative to gather information and complete detailed tasks necessary for project completion.
* Develop solutions to refrigeration design challenges that meet customer requirements.
* Maintain a thorough understanding of EPA codes and regulations for refrigeration systems.
* Work with safety agencies to develop and maintain certifications for global market sales.
* Develop clear product and process specifications to ensure high-quality systems.
* Ensure designs are simple to fabricate and assemble, coordinating with manufacturing engineering for process improvements.
* Manage multiple tasks efficiently to meet project deadlines.
* Support field service efforts including training, troubleshooting, and installation.
Essential Skills
* At least five years of mechanical design experience with a BS Engineering degree or ten years without.
* Proficiency in thin gauge sheet metal design.
* Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software.
* Experience with manufacturability of sheet metal designs.
* Experience working under UL design standards.
* Basic electrical wiring knowledge.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Experience with refrigeration or heated appliance product design is preferred.
* BS in Mechanical Engineering or Refrigeration Engineering is preferred but not required.
Work Environment
This role is based in an office environment, working Monday to Friday. You will join an engineering team comprising 7-8 members, including electrical engineers, embedded systems engineers, and designer/drafters. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Engineering. The company fosters a positive team culture, offering opportunities for growth without requiring a four-year degree. The team designs, tests, and manufactures heating, cooling, and refrigeration products for the food and beverage industry.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $46.00/hr.
