Role: Sr. Materials Engineer – Plastics

Location: Newark, CA

Role Summary:

Join our vehicle engineering team as a plastics expert, leading material selection and development for polymer components. You'll collaborate with design teams and suppliers to optimize part performance, cost, and manufacturability across automotive systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Guide material selection and design optimization for plastic parts
• Analyze part requirements and choose suitable polymer grades
• Troubleshoot material and process issues using deep polymer knowledge
• Support cross-functional teams and manage supplier communications

Qualifications:

• B.Sc. in Polymer Engineering, Materials Science, or related
• 5+ years in plastics development within the automotive industry
• Expertise in injection molded plastics and grade selection
• Strong communication skills; willingness to travel (up to 10%)

Preferred:

• M.Sc. in Polymer Engineering
• Experience with luxury materials, molding techniques, and secondary processes
