Why you'll love this job * This job is a member of the Global Security Team within the Corporate Affairs Division and will be based Fort Worth Skyview campus * This role acts as key advisor to the Director of Global Security Compliance and Facilitation on matters of aviation security at American Airlines What you'll do * Acts as the Director designee alternate TSA contact for security related matters under Part 1544.215(a) (Assistant Aircraft Operator Security Coordinator). * Acts as company's secondary point of contact for with TSA and foreign governments relating to aviation security matters. * Leads the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to measure effectiveness of aviation security processes and plans for continuous improvement related to all TSA and/or host governments' security compliance matters where American Airlines operates. * Develops reports and briefings for Corporate Security leadership on emerging threats and Security Directives that affect aviation security. * Leads a team of Program Managers responsible for ensuring all aviation security functions, projects, compliance, comprehensive quality assurance audits are completed, including the various Security Programs (Access Control, Aircraft Search, Cargo Security, Catering Security, etc.) managed by the team that supports the associated internal AA business unit (airport customer service, flight, flight service, cargo, catering, etc.) in partnering to formulate policies, procedures, processes and training. * Evaluates adequacy of all security programs and screening processes and engages government officials to ensure company operations are fully supported. * Oversees departmental coordination and communication with stakeholders including company personnel, service providers and regulatory partners with new information on emerging threats and Security Directives. * Represents company on variety of industry working groups, including Airlines for America (A4A), International Air Transport Association (IATA), etc. * Manages security litigation with federal government and represents company interests in civil hearings and/or other aviation security related matters. * Responsible for administration and management of Transportation Security Administration (TSA), European Union (EU), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Transport Canada (TC) and other host government federal security programs and regulations related to passenger, checked baggage and cargo security operations. Strategic and tactical leader who can manage aviation security programs, evaluate the risk and effectively communicate program changes orally and in writing. Requests and obtains approval from government regulators for alternative procedures/measures on compliance. * Evaluates adequacy of employees, passenger and baggage security screening at stations and engages TSA to ensure American Airlines operations are fully supported. * Responsible for the administration and management of American Airlines Security Management System (SeMS) in accordance with the company Safety Management System protocols. * Identifies deficiencies in security processes; assesses the risks and non-compliance trends, performs root cause analysis of infractions and assists in formulating corrective action plans and responds to allegations of violations alleged by TSA, and host government agencies or from internal audits. * Manages the development and submission of all security programs to host government regulators including International Security Program, Host Government Air Carrier Security Programs and with the team support international security operations for service to new international markets. All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience * Undergraduate degree in aviation, or business management field, or equivalent experience/training * 3 years work experience in aviation security compliance or other regulatory compliance field * 7 years of work experience interpreting regulatory requirements * 3 years work experience in project management Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience * Proven record of leading and managing a team to meet desired aviation security disciplines established by corporate standards * Experience developing Aviation Security policies and procedures to support continuous improvement and security effectiveness * Experience and knowledge in navigating within the corporate and operational policies and procedures networks Skills, Licenses & Certifications * Knowledge of DHS/TSA/ICAO security regulations and programs * Knowledge of Security Management System (SeMS) or Safety Management System (SMS) * Ability to analyze data and develop KPI to measure performance and develop risk-based security protocols on existing and impending regulations; provide feedback and recommendations to appropriate levels of Sr. Leadership * Ability to manage multiple high visibility projects while effectively managing multiple conflicting and frequently changing projects/priorities Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software and willingness to learn other systems as necessary * Knowledge of airline legacy systems i.e. SABRE automation and other automation tools used in aviation * Experience and knowledge in navigating within the corporate and operational policies and procedures network * Eligible for TSA and/or DOD secret clearances * Travel as required What you'll get Feel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer: * Travel Perks: Ready to explore the world?
