About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Integration & Test (I&T) Engineer to join our team, supporting the OMES III (Omnibus Multidiscipline Engineering Services III) contract in Greenbelt, Maryland. This contract focuses on providing engineering services to support the Goddard Space Flight Center's (GSFC) missions and projects, including the development of flight and ground systems for space missions, specifically the Joint Polar Satellite Systems Flight builds (JPSS-3 and JPSS-4)
Key Responsibilities
- Support the observatory integration and test (I&T) efforts for the Joint Polar Satellite Systems (JPSS) observatories being built and tested in Gilbert, Arizona, ensuring that all components work together seamlessly and meet project specifications.
- Review procedures, schedules and integration & test activities to ensure proper planning and oversight for the GSFC spacecraft team as well as the instrument on-site teams.
- Provide technical expertise in diagnosing and resolving system issues that arise during integration and testing.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the successful completion of projects.
- Participating in Test / Failure Review Boards for all Flight elements (i.e., Spacecraft, Instruments, Satellites), and interfaces, including the interface to the ground segment.
- Support the systems engineering efforts for the JPSS flight project observatory, ensuring that all systems are designed, developed, and integrated according to mission requirements.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure that all project objectives are met on time and within budget.
- Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system specifications, test plans, and integration procedures.
- Reviewing and assessing delivered documentation.
- Participating in internal JPSS Spacecraft and Satellite progress meetings, design reviews, test readiness reviews, anomaly boards, parts/material boards, etc., as appropriate.
- Participate in program status meetings, telecons, peer reviews, and major project reviews for spacecraft, instruments, launch vehicle, and mission operations system.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 20+ years of experience in I&T/systems engineering, with a focus on space systems, integration, and testing.
- Ability to travel up to 33% to Phoenix, Arizona for satellite I&T support
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Strong background in the design, development, and integration of complex space systems, including both flight and ground systems.
- Extensive experience in integration and testing, with a proven track record of successful project execution.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
