About The Role

Marriott is looking for a Senior Front-End Software Engineer to join their team and contribute to building the next generation of their hospitality web portal. This role involves working on a state-of-the-art React-based micro-UI architecture to provide a seamless digital experience for customers. You will work with a cross-functional team, including product owners, UX designers, engineers, and QA, to ensure the development of reusable, scalable, and high-performance web software. This temporary position can be performed remotely, offering flexibility to work from anywhere.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain front-end components and user interfaces using React and TypeScript.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement user-friendly features for different platforms.
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and performance.
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs and propose alternative solutions where necessary.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and consistency.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise.
  • Stay updated with the latest front-end technologies and best practices.
  • Mentor junior developers and guide them on coding best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in front-end development.
  • Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript.
  • Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and web markup.
  • Experience with state management libraries like Redux, Mobx, or Zustand.
  • Knowledge of modern front-end build tools and workflows (e.g., Webpack, Vite).
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Dynatrace or Splunk.
  • Proven experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and asynchronous programming.
  • Expertise in designing high-traffic, customer-facing digital platforms for performance and scalability.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GraphQL and server-side rendering (SSR) using Next.js.
  • Familiarity with Micro-UI architecture patterns.
  • Experience with testing frameworks like Jest and Cypress.
  • CI/CD experience with tools like Harness and/or Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and mobile-first development.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or a strong GitHub profile.
