Sr. Engineer, Mechanical Design Location: San Jose, CA (on-site) Ayar Labs is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help us revolutionize photonic interconnects for high performance computing. The exceptional candidate will be highly motivated and energetic, bringing their experience in mechanical design engineering to innovate solutions for a new paradigm of photonic interconnects. This role will be responsible for developing mounting hardware and mechanical design of modules to support high-density fiber interconnect solutions on printed circuit boards. Essential Functions * Design optical fiber mounting solutions for chip-to-chip interconnect solutions * Design systems for compatibility with server/rack-mount form factors * Design mounting brackets and modular solutions for laser module * Work with multi-disciplinary teams to develop mechanical, thermal and electrical requirements * Maintain high-quality technical documentation and complex BOM Basic Qualifications * Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 3+ years industry experience * Proficiency in Solidworks * Experience communicating requirements with fabrication vendors * Understanding of manufacturing process such as sheet metal, extrusion, die cast Preferred Qualifications * Familiarity with pluggable optical module design * Understanding of thermal design and modeling * Familiarity with optical fiber types and restrictions * Experience working with mounting hardware for printed circuit board design Salary range: $100,000 - $136,000 NOTE TO RECRUITERS: Principals only.
