Summary

Primary Duties & Responsibilities * Design and develop mixed signal and high speed hardware, including architecture definition, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, bringup, and documentation. The hardware (PCBAs) is used in manufacturing testing and automation, mainly for testing of fiber optics transceiver modules. * Defines digital design elements, like CPLDs, FPGA, uC and their interaction with other hardware and software blocks. * Select PCB materials with respect to application, applies latest technologies. * Selects analog, digital, and RF components from multiple sources, focusing on high speed performance, usability for test and automation application. * Negotiates performance requirements and pricing with vendors. * Collects and clarifies products specifications and distill them into requirements for testing and automation. * Defines functional description of designs which is used for firmware and software development. * Ensures adherence to documented processes. * Provides sustaining engineering for the production test process, including test process improvements. * Participates in product design reviews. * Supports operations metrics such as on-time delivery and quality. * Ensures a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, competency, and quality across the department. Education & Experience * Required Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical/electronic engineering or related field. * Expected Minimum Years of Related Experience: 5+ Years Skills & Other Requirements * Deep understanding of the analog and digital high speed electronics concepts. * Strong foundation in electronics design, testing, and troubleshooting. * Knowledge of PCB manufacturing process. * Proficient in EDA/CAD tools for schematic capture and layout. Experience with Siemens/Mentor PADS a bonus. * Ability to be innovative, use data based decision-making, and be self-motivated, influential and persistent. * Strong interpersonal/teaming skills and ability to excel in cross-organizational, cross cultural, global team environment at all levels of the organization to achieve business unit and organizational objectives. * Strong written communication and verbal communication skills (listening, making presentations) to able to communicate effectively with employees from all levels of the organization. * Strong ability to drive actions and solutions through cross-functional teams by using professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways * Ability to deal effectively with differences of opinion, to influence, to draw ideas from others, and to negotiate and mediate to achieve business objectives. * Demonstrated ability to understand high level goals and translate them to actionable plans. * Demonstrates good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. * Ability to create project work plans, oversee many tasks simultaneously and monitor progress. Working Conditions * Working conditions are normal for an open concept office environment and non-climate-controlled manufacturing facility. * Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, carrying out multiple projects at a time. * Must be able to travel domestically 5% of time and internationally 5% of time. Physical Requirements * N/A Safety Requirements All employees are required to attend scheduled training, follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards. This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities. Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently. They will ensure that risk assessments are performed, proper training, work instructions, required PPE is available, and will monitor compliance. * Responsible for following the site EHS procedures and the Corporate EHS standards which includes completion of mandatory safety training as assigned. * ESD garment, wrist strap/ground chord, monitor connection and ESD foot ware are required to work at ESD protected areas. Quality & Environmental Responsibilities Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
