Sr. Demand Planning Manager
The Senior Demand Planning Manager plays a vital role in developing a collaborative, data-informed forecast to ensure optimal inventory availability while minimizing total landed cost. This role leverages analytics, cross-functional collaboration, and structured planning processes like S&OP to drive alignment between supply and demand. By integrating market insights and inputs from commercial teams, the manager ensures product availability to meet customer needs without overstocking.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain SKU-level forecasts by customer and month, extending across a 24-month planning window.
- Integrate key data and insights from sales, marketing, finance, product development, and supply chain to create a comprehensive demand plan.
- Lead and sustain a formal S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) or Integrated Business Planning process, building alignment across departments and clearly outlining assumptions, risks, and growth opportunities.
- Use analytics to identify and correct forecasting bias, challenge historical assumptions, and improve accuracy.
- Translate volume forecasts into revenue projections, taking into account wholesale pricing, promotional discounts, and seasonal impacts.
- Track and report key forecasting metrics such as short-term bias, accuracy, and supply service performance over 1- and 4-month intervals.
- Notify the supply planning team of forecast shifts using established tools and proactively communicate the impact on inventory coverage.
- Lead cross-functional investigations into gaps between forecasted and actual sales to resolve variances and improve future planning.
- Provide actionable input to inventory strategies for current products, new launches, and discontinuations.
- Continuously refine tools, systems, and methodologies to improve forecasting precision and responsiveness to market demand.
- Collaborate with logistics and sourcing teams to escalate urgent purchase order requirements critical to production timelines.
- Partner with Product Management to ensure alignment on bill of materials (BOM) and highlight material risks associated with product transitions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
- 2–4 years of related experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- APICS or other demand planning certifications are a plus.
Physical Demands
The role requires standard office-based physical activity, including sitting, using hands, and regular verbal communication. Occasional standing and lifting of up to 15 pounds may be needed. Visual capabilities such as depth perception, close-range focus, and distance vision are required for computer and planning tasks.
