What To Expect
The Data Center Design Engineering team is responsible for designing and developing efficient and reliable electrical systems for our data centers. As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful design, operation, and maintenance of our electrical infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, power consumption data analytics, field operations, and project management, to drive design efficiencies, reduce costs, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
What You'll Do
Review and analyze electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs) for data centers to ensure compliance with industry standards and OCP guidelinesDevelop greenfield data center design concepts, including electrical system designs, load calculations, and power system analysisIdentify inefficiencies in electrical system designs and propose cost-effective solutions to reduce CAPEX costsCollaborate with stakeholders to define business requirements for reporting and formulate applicable data-driven solutionsProvide electrical engineering support and training to facility technicians to troubleshoot, operate, and maintain existing electrical equipment and controllersDrive electrical distribution improvement and resiliency projects with system risk analysis techniques, power monitoring data, and other advanced detection methodsTroubleshoot power quality and electrical system problems, conduct breaker coordination, arc flash studies, and track electrical load and capacity planningUtilize industry-standard software and tools, such as Autodesk AutoCAD or Revit, to design and analyze electrical systems
What You'll Bring
5+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on data center designProfessional Engineer (PE) license preferredStrong knowledge of OCP standards, industry best practices, and data center design principlesExperience with electrical single-line diagrams, load calculations, and power system analysisExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work with diverse stakeholdersAbility to travel to Fremont, CA, less than 25%Familiarity with data analytics and power consumption modelingKnowledge of emerging technologies, such as power shelves, battery backup units, super capacitors
