General Responsibilities:
Perform telephone/electric pole field route feasibility investigations, telephone/electric pole field data collection, data entry
Record proper data collection from field investigations per Telco Department standards and quality required specifications
Escalate unresolved client issues to supervisor
Train staff with client walkouts and route feasibility
Assist with business development for all Telecom markets
Monitor construction crew activities
Report daily crew activities
Responsible for project billing and invoicing
Possibly operate a company vehicle in a safe and responsible Clean, maintain, stock, and secure assigned vehicle and equipment, in accordance with company policies
Utilize and become proficient with tasks, tools, test equipment and information that will enhance project results
Prepare drawings and source documents, including red-line drawings, handhole and splice location maps for as-built preparation
Ensures that the work performed in the field is completed on time, according to work prints and specifications, meets quality standards, and is accurately billed
Adhere to industry specific, local, state and federal regulations, as applicable
Monitor compliance with appropriate safety regulations
Know, understand and follow company policy
Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
Required Education & Certifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within Company required standards
Required Experience:
15+ years experience in construction of telecommunications infrastructure
Ability to operate appropriate computer or field equipment associated with the position
Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Required Qualifications:
Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, client, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
Ability to read and understand cable records, plats, and associated records
Ability to use the following hand tools: electric drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers
Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment
Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment (such as survey rods, manhole hooks) within the maximum weight limitations of that equipment
Ability to accurately measure distances, using tapes or other measuring devices
Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
Ability to work while standing 50 - 70% of the time
Ability to use handheld communication devices and applications
Ability to travel (including during inclement weather) to and from assigned project sites and offices facilities
Ability to work outside for extended periods in any season and/or during inclement weather
Familiarity with computer operating systems
Ability to complete documentation accurately
Working Conditions
This position works face to face with clients, construction crews & permitting agencies
Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, insects, rodents, and pets
Work outdoors in all kinds of weather and at all times of the day or night
Work performed near power lines and electricity
Work and travel in inclement weather
Occasionally required to work overtime as the project needs dictate
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define routine problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to solve routine problems and/or deal with a variety of variables in situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
