As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a talented and driven Chemical Engineer to join our team.


About the Role: X-Bow Systems is expanding and is looking to fill one new position, with candidates ranging from Junior to Senior levels being considered.


As a Sr. Chemical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the design, analysis, component specification, integration, and commissioning of facilities required for 21st-century energetic material manufacturing. Specifically, you will join a multi-disciplinary team responsible for requirement verification, upgrades, anomaly resolution, design, analysis, testing, and deployment of hardware and control subsystems related to a disruptive new method for nitrocellulose production.


Success in this role will be defined by your ability to:

  • Identify blockers and guide processes to address anomalies and performance shortfalls
  • Verify that requirements are satisfied and deliver on the agreed-upon master schedule
  • Adhere to environmental and safety best practices throughout the project lifecycle.


To thrive in this role, you must have demonstrated success in the research, design, and development of chemical process equipment/systems, the creation of standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products, and tests, and an aptitude for hands-on definition of industrial CONOPS (Concept of Operations) and commissioning of complex industrial/chemical systems.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

Design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing of processes essential to energetic materials production.

Demonstrated experience generating P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram) schematics.

Experience with process simulation software and data analysis tools.

Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD and PDM or equivalent (5+ years).


Process Optimization: Optimize workflows by creating procedures and process flow documentation. Identify opportunities for process improvements, including throughput, safety, and waste stream management. Develop methods to minimize by-products and waste materials in an environmentally responsible manner.


Safety and Environmental Standards: Maintain safety and environmental standards throughout all phases of the project.


Equipment and Vendor Management:

Experience scoping pumps, mixers, heat exchangers, ovens, precision flow meters, and other process equipment.

Identify and coordinate contractors/vendors to design machinery and other equipment to optimize work processes.


Collaboration and Teamwork: Demonstrated experience collaborating with Data/Automation/Controls engineers. Experience working in multidisciplinary teams of approximately 5 engineers.


Project Management: Assist in the establishment of timelines and budgets.


Education and Clearance: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or

equivalent. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. Must be a U.S. Person as defined by § 120.62 of the ITAR.
