The Florida Senate Information Technology Office (Senate IT) is looking for an experienced database engineer / administrator seeking new challenges and an opportunity to work with a dynamic team supporting the legislative business process.
This position is a full-time employee that will work in Tallahassee, Florida.
Salary: Starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
This professional will be expected to:
Develop database models for applications.
Maintain current databases and assist with optimizing performance.
Participate in code reviews and assist developers’ with writing effective queries.
Understand and implement data warehousing principles, tools, and technologies.
Respond, analyze, and resolve to a resolution production issues that arise.
Use expertise, judgment, and precedent to assist in translating business requirements.
Decompose data flows/relationships into concrete data pipelines and models.
Be integrated into an agile team working to provide excellent customer service.
Experience, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:
Ability to maintain current on tools, methodologies, and technologies related to data administration.
Capable and eager to learn and adapt to new technologies and apply them as appropriate.
Strong understanding of data warehouse and data modelling principles and best practices.
Ability to design, build, and troubleshoot ETL routines using SSIS.
Ability to design, develop, and troubleshoot complex stored procedures and functions.
Skill in logical database design and data modeling (Star Schema and 3NF).
Knowledge of data privacy and protection initiatives.
Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner.
Ability to effectively communicate technical information verbally and in writing.
Capable of working under deadlines and available after hours for deployments/production issues.
Skilled in supporting SQL Server data replication and validation.
Knowledge of the software development lifecycle process.
Preferred:
Experience with SQL Server Always On availability groups.
Experience developing in T-SQL or PL/SQL languages.
Experience with SSRS.
Ability to design dimensional models that adhere to Kimball methodology.
Experience with Power BI.
Ability to mentor developers on effective and quality database queries.
Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, design skills, and ability to multitask.
Experience with agile software development, including Scrum.
Experience with a ticket-based system for work assignments.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio.
Experience with Microsoft DevOps (TFS).
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, business administration, education, communications, graphic arts, mathematics, statistics, geography, or engineering and a minimum of three years of progressively responsible information systems experience.
Progressively responsible work experience with web or application development can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
Total experience must equate to a minimum of 7 years related to the position.
