SQL DBA
What does a successful SQL DBA do at Fiserv?
This position involves the maintenance of Microsoft SQL databases, which includes managing all client-facing environments and performing database backups. The role supports databases across both internal and end-user applications. Key responsibilities include improving database integrity through quality assurance and managing change control processes related to the SQL environment. Additional duties consist of analyzing existing database applications for performance tuning, implementing alerting and monitoring systems, and collaborating with application developers to integrate relational databases effectively. The role also requires participation in team or company projects as necessary, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of best practices in database administration, design, and implementation, conducting capacity planning, and providing on-site support.
What you will do:
* Provide expert-level troubleshooting to swiftly identify and resolve database-related incidents across various technologies and platforms. Participate in root cause analysis and problem resolution efforts.
* Make technical decisions during high-priority incidents, focusing on impact remediation while communicating clearly with call participants and leadership.
* Incorporate organizational objectives into actionable operational plans.
* Support a rigorous change control process, which includes creating, reviewing, approving, and implementing change records for database activities.
* Engage with database vendors to drive and escalate issues related to incident management.
* Communicate technical concepts to non-technical employees. Competence in managing and prioritizing multiple incidents with potentially competing priorities.
* Proactively monitor and manage a large database infrastructure.
What you will need to have:
* 3+ years of experience as an SQL Server DBA in an enterprise environment with SQL 2012 - upper.
* 3+ years of experience with SQL in-place upgrades on both virtual and physical servers, server partition design and implementation.
* 3+ years of experience with backup processes and procedures (DDBoost).
* 2+ years of experience in Azure IaaS and PaaS.
* Current Fiserv systems experience.
* 1+ years of experience in SQL Server High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) design and implementation.
* 1+ years of experience in designing and supporting large database migration strategies.
What would be great to have:
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, information technology, or equivalent work experience.
* Knowledge and experience with database monitoring tools like Foglight, Splunk and Dynatrace.
