Rate/Salary: 35/hr on w-2 (No C2C)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Database Administrator I to assist in the maintenance, optimization, and support of our database systems. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to grow your career in database administration, with hands-on exposure to database performance tuning, cloud technologies, and security best practices.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and upgrading of database server software and related components.
  • Monitor and maintain database performance, availability, and integrity.
  • Perform routine tasks including backups, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Support the development and implementation of data models and database designs.
  • Assist in monitoring and enforcing access controls and ensuring compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
  • Contribute to the development of disaster recovery plans and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues as they arise.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, reports, and workflows.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Actively propose and implement improvements to database systems and related processes.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

Work Experience:

  • Required: Some experience (internships, coursework, or early career roles) in database administration or analysis.
  • Desired: Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.


Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Foundational understanding of database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
  • Proficiency in SQL and query development.
  • Familiarity with data modeling, database design, and normalization concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), Azure Data Studio, and SSIS packages.
  • Knowledge of SQL job scheduling and monitoring.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure to Power BI or similar BI tools.
  • Hands-on experience with database backup and restore procedures.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing tools like Snowflake or Redshift.
  • Understanding of modern programming languages such as TypeScript, SQL, Python, or Go.
  • Experience with open-source RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
