Summary

Job Summary: We are looking for a detail-oriented and customer-focused Marine & Powersports Service Writer to join our team. This role serves as the primary point of contact between customers and the service department, ensuring smooth communication, accurate work orders, and efficient scheduling. The ideal candidate has technical knowledge of marine and powersports vehicles, strong organizational skills, and the ability to provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. A positive attitude, commitment to strong teamwork, and active involvement in the local area boating and powersports community are essential to success in this role. Customer Service & Communication: Enthusiastically greet customers in person, over the phone, and via email, assessing their service needs. Clearly explain recommended maintenance, repairs, and service options in a way that customers understand. Provide accurate cost estimates, repair timelines, and warranty information. Maintain regular communication with customers regarding service progress and any changes. Handle customer concerns and complaints professionally, ensuring a positive service experience. Work Order & Scheduling Management: Create detailed and accurate work orders based on customer concerns and technician diagnostics. Ensure work orders include proper documentation, parts requirements, and labor times. Monitor job progress and adjust schedules as needed to maximize efficiency. Verify that all completed repairs meet company and manufacturer standards before returning vehicles to customers. Parts & Inventory Coordination: Work closely with the parts department to ensure necessary parts are available before scheduling repairs. Order special parts and track delivery timelines to minimize service delays. Ensure accurate billing and invoicing for parts and labor. Administrative & Operational Duties: Process warranty claims and ensure proper documentation for manufacturer reimbursements. Maintain organized service records, invoices, and repair histories for customer reference. Assist in tracking service department performance metrics and efficiency. Stay updated on manufacturer service bulletins, recalls, and industry trends. Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized service department. Qualifications & Requirements: Experience: Previous experience as a service writer, advisor, or similar role in marine, powersports, or automotive industries preferred. Technical Knowledge: Understanding of marine and powersports vehicles, engines, and repair procedures. Customer Service Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build customer trust. Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple service requests, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Computer Proficiency: Experience with service management software, work order systems, and basic office applications. Problem-Solving: Ability to assess customer concerns, coordinate solutions, and ensure customer satisfaction. Physical Requirements: Ability to move within the service department, occasionally lift up to 100 lbs., and work in a shop environment.
