KERMAN UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Description SCOPE: District-Wide 10001 POSITION: Speech Therapist ACCOUNTABILITY: The Speech Therapist shall be under the direct supervision of the Director Pupil Personnel Services/designee and shall adhere to applicable laws, rules, and regulations of the state, county, and school district governing board. The Speech Therapist shall be familiar and comply with all collective bargaining contracts pertinent to this position. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Shall screen, diagnose, assess, and identify children with all types of communicative disorders in accordance with procedures outlined in Title 5 and the Master Plan for Special Education. 2. Shall determine goals and objectives based on diagnostic information for each child to meet individual communication needs. 3. Shall develop an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each child enrolled in the speech program in cooperation with parents and administrator. 4. Shall determine personal goals and objectives for therapy program. 5. Shall prepare a therapy schedule. 6. Shall prepare written therapy plans. 7. Shall administer therapy to all children enrolled in caseload based on individual learner objectives as outlined in the IEP. 8. Shall maintain records and reports on each child enrolled in therapy regarding diagnostic information, goals and objectives, pupil progress, and pertinent conference information from parents and other professionals. 9. Shall provide information for and conduct conferences with parents, teachers, administrators, and other professionals regarding student needs. 10. Shall perform other job related duties as assigned on an equitable basis. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Shall be able to conduct and participate in an inservice training program. 2. Shall be able to prepare therapy materials. 3. Shall be able to determine material needs. 4. Shall be able to prepare county/state/federal reports as requested. 5. Willingness to update skills and knowledge commensurate with the demands of this position. REQUIRED EDUCATION: 1. Appropriate credential for this position. Amended: 02-01-90 12-30-96
