Minimum Qualifications • Master's Degree in Communicative Disorders or related field • Appropriate CA Credential License • Min. 10 yrs exp. working w/ students w/ disabilities & providing special ed. services in public schools • License for Speech Pathology in CA • Certificate for Communicative Competence from ASHA • Outstanding diagnostic skills in all aspects of the student assessment process (i.e. testing, parent & teacher interviewing, developing rapport w/ challenging students, etc.) • Prior experience in assessment & interventions serving students w/ variety of disabling conditions (e.g. learning disabilities, intellectual disability, autism, severe emotional disturbance, communication disorders, physical disabilities, medically fragile, etc.) • Knowledge & experience working w/ students who have moderate to severe communication disorders • Knowledge & experience in assessment and interventions serving students w/ disabilities who are also English Language Learners • Excellent analytical & writing language skills • Ability to work flexibly & cooperatively as a part of a transdisciplinary assessment team & routinely complete assignments w/ pre-established timeliness • Ability to present assessment findings, implications & recommendations in a clear and sensitive manner to parents & school district personnel at post-assessment conferences • Availability to travel throughout DCN's catchment area (35 counties), including overnight stays as needed • Valid driver's license Desirable Skills • Knowledge & experience working w/ students on Autism Spectrum • Knowledge of current Alternative & Augmentative Communication systems (low tech to high tech) & experience assessing, determining, & implementing appropriate AAC systems • Knowledge of laws pertaining to special ed. policies & procedures • Expertise in non-biased, developmental, & play-based assessments • Ability to prepare & present trainings on a variety of assessment & intervention topics

The Diagnostic Center, Northern California (DCN) is accepting applications for the position of Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Teacher Specialist. The individual selected to fill this position will participate as a member of a transdisciplinary assessment team and work with some of California's most complex and challenging students. Primary job duties include evaluating and diagnosing communication deficits and language-based learning disorders. In addition to providing high quality diagnostic assessment services, the SLP develops specific, practical, evidence-based interventions and strategies based on the team's findings. In addition, the SLP will have opportunities to present in-services to professional educators and parents on topics related to language assessment and intervention at various regional and statewide educational trainings and conferences. Travel for this position is required. The SLP will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with highly competent individuals from other disciplines including physician, clinical psychologist, education specialist and school psychologist.
