Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient assessments to determine speech and language disorders
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients, focusing on improving communication skills
- Provide speech therapy services to patients, including articulation, fluency, voice, and language therapy
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans for patients
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed
- Educate patients and their families on speech and language disorders and provide strategies for communication improvement
- Provide case management services, coordinating care with other healthcare professionals
- Work with pediatric patients in a hospital setting, including those in the ICU and critical care units
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to speech and language
- Proficiency in conducting patient assessments and developing treatment plans
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to speech therapy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients of all ages
- Ability to provide compassionate patient care while maintaining professionalism
- Strong organizational skills for managing caseload and documentation
