Primary Purpose

Conduct assessments to identify communication disorders, including specific impairments in articulation, language, voice, and fluency skills. Provide therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce these impairments.

Qualifications

Education/Certification:

  • Master's degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SBESLPA) or TEA certificate in speech therapy
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) issued by ASHA

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Expertise in using tests and measurements for assessing communication disorders
  • Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation, and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders
  • Ability to instruct and manage client behavior
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Major Responsibilities And Duties

Assessment & Therapy

  • Develop Plans of Care based on assessment results, including appropriate long-term and short-term goals and objectives
  • Provide individual therapy to clients consistent with speech and language goals
  • Evaluate client progress and determine ongoing need for therapy services
  • Conduct individual evaluations to assess speech or language disorders and determine eligibility for services
  • Develop clinical management strategies or procedures and diagnostic statements by interpreting observations or data
  • Participate in conferences with parents and guardians to assist in interpreting assessment data and goal setting

Clinic Climate & Improvement

  • Present a positive role model for clients through interactions and presentation
  • Maintain positive and effective relationships with supervisors and colleagues
  • Collaborate with other professionals to plan and implement therapeutic activities
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and parents regarding therapy goals and client needs
  • Develop and coordinate continuous evaluation of speech-language pathology services and implement improvements

Client Management

  • Create a conducive environment for learning, appropriate for the maturity, developmental levels, and interests of clients

Program Management

  • May supervise licensed speech-language pathology assistants and graduate students at the discretion and appointment of the Clinic Director
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and documents in a timely manner
  • Comply with federal and state laws and State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology policies

Clinic Support & Work Conditions

  • Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Manage and determine necessary materials for professional development
  • Complete all trainings and professional development as requested
  • Handle multiple tasks effectively and work under timeline demands
  • Assist in all areas of the clinic as requested
  • Initiate tasks and projects that benefit clients, staff, and the clinic
  • Participate in community outreach events
  • Complete all other duties as assigned

Physical Effort And Work Environment

  • Physical, mental, and emotional stamina to perform duties
  • Mental acuity to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, and make valid judgments and decisions
  • Physical agility to engage in tasks such as sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 20-30 pounds
  • Mobility to move about the work environment and respond to emergency situations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $55/per hour
