Summary

Summary: Responsible for assisting students and clients with communication. Duties generally include assessing and diagnosing disorders that can impact swallowing and speaking Roles and Responsibilities: * Identifying treatment options * Creating and carrying out individualized treatment plans addressing specific functional needs * Teaching patients how to make sounds while improving their voices and maintaining fluency * Helping individuals improve sentence structure and vocabulary used in written and oral language * Working with adults and children in developing and strengthening muscles used to swallow * Counseling individuals and families on ways to cope with swallowing and communication disorders * Evaluating levels of swallowing, speech and language difficulty * Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned Qualifications Qualifications: * Master's degree in speech-language pathology, speech therapy, or equivalent * A relevant current license * Previous experience in education with IEP-based services, IEPs, and goals preferred * Organized, creative, flexible, innovative thinker * Knowledge of Microsoft suite of programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) * Knowledge of database system input and reporting * Must fulfill all requirements of employment, including clearance of all required background records (e.g. Department of Justice, Child Abuse, California Community Care Licensing, County Sanction List, etc.)
