BASIC FUNCTION & RESPONSIBILITY: Support the Administrator of IT Infrastructure and Security in the design, implementation, and administration of LAN and WAN systems, including equipment procurement, network design, network documentation, equipment installation and maintenance, and network security and management. Assist to implement and maintain a scalable, secure, and robust threat management system; monitor and protect sensitive data and systems from intrusions, and help the District understand advanced cyber threats. Incumbent performs professional and technical work associated with production Enterprise Wide Area Network for the Bastrop ISD.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience
* CCNA, Network+, Security+, C|EH, CISM, or CISA certifications preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
* Knowledge of information systems security and functions
* Knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies and methods
* Knowledge of securing datacenter networks, systems and application architectures
* Knowledge of G-Suite, Microsoft 365, and Azure Cloud Services
* Identity and Access Management systems
* PC and Mac computers with modern operating systems
* Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
* Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
* Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks/workload, work independently and under pressure
* Ability to analyze and correct system faults/errors through detailed log analysis
* The ability to communicate network security issues to peers and management
* Ability to think logically, symbolically, and abstractly with attention to detail
* Ability to analyze and interpret problems assigned and present results with clarity and precision
* Strong background in modern Cybersecurity administration

Management of Administrative, Fiscal and/or Facilities Functions:
* Large Enterprise WAN/LAN design and installation; Research and propose LAN/WAN standards and procedures that support District policies.
* 24/7 support and maintenance of all wide area network equipment, including all network connections.
* Install and test network hardware and software, perform routine maintenance, and apply vendor updates to software.
* Install, configure, and maintain firewall and network monitoring services.
* Install, configure, and maintain antivirus solution to ensure the security of all infrastructure devices.
* Install, configure, and maintain email filter and threat protection services.
* Install, configure, and maintain Content Filter systems and services.
* Install, configure, and maintain network access control (NAC) services.
* Ensure District compliance with Cybersecurity policies and framework.
* Monitor networks and systems for security breaches, through the use of software that detects intrusions and anomalous system behavior.
* Report all security breaches as designated by District policy.
* Lead incident response tasks, including steps to minimize the impact and then conducting a technical and forensic investigation into how the breach happened and the extent of the damage; Report all findings and propose solutions into mitigating future attacks.
* Conduct periodic network scans to find any vulnerabilities.
* Conduct penetration testing, simulating an attack on the system to find exploitable weaknesses.
* Troubleshoot infrastructure issues; Support the efforts of the HelpDesk and field service teams; Collaborate with field technicians and HelpDesk to ensure that all endpoints are able to connect and operate effectively.
* Perform routine backup and archives of network configurations; Test network back-up procedures.
* Maintain organized documentation of the network environment and diagrams.
* Handle multiple projects with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines.
* Troubleshoot problems reported by users; Analyze and isolate issues; Consult with management and vendors to resolve issues in a timely manner.
* Document all work performed and keep accurate inventory records.
* Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
