About This Food Service Role
As a Sous Chef, your day kicks off with a daily line check, ensuring that every detail is perfect and every ingredient is in place. Overseeing all food production, you collaborate with the chef of restaurants to design innovative menus and elevate traditional, contemporary American, and ethnic-inspired cuisines. From supervising food production personnel to creating stunning buffet presentations, you set the standard for culinary excellence.
With each banquet or restaurant operation, you manage staffing, cost controls, and quality to ensure every dish delights the club's discerning members. You also take pride in leading the kitchen team with calm and confidence, tackling challenges head-on, and developing your staff through hands-on training and mentorship.
This is a full-time food service position located at Austin Country Club in the beautiful Westlake suburb of Austin, TX. As a Sous Chef, you'll work in various settings, from formal dining rooms to the terrace grill and the newly launched BBQ restaurant. Enjoy a dynamic environment that challenges your creativity and allows you to showcase your food service skills across multiple styles and settings.
Qualifications
- 3+ years culinary experience in a fine dining restaurant, hotel, or private club
- setting; leadership experience preferred.
- Culinary degree or equivalent professional training highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of classical cooking techniques and modern trends.
- Passion for delivering outstanding food and service.
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- ServSafe Certification (or ability to obtain).
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
