Overview

To create a team of architects that will support the Operations, Commercial, or technology platforms. The Lead Solution Architect will ensure all IT projects are appropriately architected, adherent to best practice and Standards, Principles, and Policies. The Lead Solution Architect will work with other Solution Architects across the technology organization and ensure that other skillsets are called upon in a timely manner to ensure Projects are engineered consistently regardless of supplier, technology, or methodology used to deliver them.

Responsibilities

• To ensure the right number of architects are in place with the right skillsets and the appropriate mix of permanent and external headcount.
• Manage a number of permanent employees, ensuring that they are empowered to make decisions whilst at the same time supported with relevant governance and oversight.
• Ensure appropriate training for employees and ensure that there are no single points of failure in individuals or processes.
• Develop the project blueprint into solution designs as business needs are clarified, escalating and agreeing where we need to deviate from the original blueprint.
• Ensure all architectures are appropriate, peer reviewed, and agreed with the CIO, with all risks and issues communicated to relevant stakeholders so that short-, medium-, and longer-term implications are clearly understood.
• Work closely within the governance forums and with Technology Directors and ensure an appropriate solution is agreed across potentially conflicting needs.
• Consolidate a best-in-class way of working to ensure architects working on projects call out blockers early, ensure appropriate engineering is built into early sprints, and that the medium and longer-term needs are understood and architected in from the beginning.
• To lead meetings with stakeholders to balance project delivery pressures with the long-term health of the technology estate

Qualifications and Skills

• Ability to manage a large and varied workload, to prioritize and multitask.
• Strong SAP S/4, BASIS, infrastructure, and security background
• Ability to manage Solution Architecture resources to meet programme and project delivery requirements.
• Ability to communicate complex technical designs to business stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
• Significant experience in leading teams of Solution Architects and
• multi-disciplinary teams.
• Significant experience in systems delivery, including analysis, design, implementation, testing, and support.
• Mastery of defining the technical architecture design principles and planning, design, and implementation of complex systems
• architectures.
• Significant experience in large-scale digital transformation.
• Experience working with collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.
• Experience of going through the transformation from Waterfall to Agile delivery methodologies.
• Architecture training/qualifications e.g., TOGAF, Microsoft Azure certified, AWS certified etc.
• Agile training/qualifications or experience incl. Scrum & Kanban
• Responsible for the solution design and integration with existing systems within cost/time/quality parameters for all the projects within a technology portfolio or platform.
