Classification: HEP Level 9 $128,446 - $133,636 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation

Contract Type: 2 year Fixed-term contract


Victoria University (VU) is seeking a talented and innovative Solution Architect to join our Digital and Campus Services team. This is a dynamic opportunity to play a strategic role in shaping the University's digital transformation and architectural direction.


About the Role

As a Solution Architect, you will lead the design and delivery of solutions architecture across a range of strategic initiatives. Reporting to the Enterprise Architect, you’ll provide expert guidance and thought leadership to project teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure innovative, secure, and scalable solutions aligned with the University’s vision.

You will drive excellence in solution design and architecture governance, contribute to enterprise architecture strategy, and lead a community of practice for Solution Architects. This is your chance to make a significant impact within a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and guide the development of architectural solutions that support VU’s digital strategy.
  • Collaborate with project managers, business partners, and technical teams across infrastructure, applications, and cybersecurity.
  • Ensure consistency and quality of solution delivery through architecture reviews and standards.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, mentoring other Solution Architects.
  • Engage with external vendors and industry peers to bring best practices and emerging trends to VU.


About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:


  • Postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience in IT or a related field.
  • Proven experience in business process re-engineering and system development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Strong background in solution architecture with the ability to navigate complex IT environments.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
  • A forward-looking mindset, with the ability to apply emerging technologies to inclusive, strategic outcomes.


Desirable:

  • Experience in higher education or dual-sector institutions.
  • Knowledge of global higher education IT trends.
