Summary

Software Tester – Fleet Management & Transit Operations (Utrecht, NL)

Join Trinamics and contribute to the future of autonomous transportation.

The role

We are looking for a Software Tester for a high-tech client based in Utrecht who is developing advanced fleet management and control systems for autonomous vehicles. You will play a vital role in testing their in-house developed Transit Operations Monitoring and Supervision (TOMS) system — the software platform that manages route planning, charging strategies, and operator control of autonomous fleets.

This role focuses on testing the core application layer — not embedded microcontroller code, and not just high-level UI. You’ll be validating logic-heavy, safety-critical software that sits at the heart of autonomous operations.

The first phase emphasizes hands-on manual testing, but we’re also looking for someone who can help guide and set up test automation as the platform evolves. You’ll work alongside developers, test engineers, and system engineers in a collaborative and impact-driven environment.

This is a deta-vast position via Trinamics, meaning you’ll start through us with the goal of joining the client directly after a successful period.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual tests on routing logic, fleet monitoring, charging strategies, and operator interfaces
  • Define and document a scalable test strategy, including automation plans
  • Design and execute test plans across various integration levels
  • Collaborate with developers to isolate, reproduce, and solve issues
  • Contribute to the setup of test automation frameworks
  • Support system deployment, integration, and commissioning activities remotely
  • Focus on testing application-level systems, not embedded control software

Your profile

You bring experience testing complex, logic-driven software systems, especially in domains where software directly interacts with real-world operations.

Must-haves

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related
  • 5+ years of experience in manual and functional testing
  • Programming/scripting experience in Python, Java, or JavaScript
  • Comfortable working in Linux-based environments (including virtualized or containerized setups)
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Jenkins
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive mindset

Nice to have

  • ISTQB or equivalent certification
  • Knowledge of network protocols or distributed systems
  • Experience with fleet management, transport, or logistics software
  • Familiarity with real-time operations or safety-critical environments

Why this role?

You’ll be working on real-world applications with a direct link to innovation in autonomous transportation. The software you help test is already being deployed in operational environments — offering both technical challenge and meaningful impact.
