For our client, Thales, we are looking for a Software Team Architect (Medior / Senior) with 3-5 years of experience in Software Architecture, Linux, Ansible, and Network Technologies.

About Thales

In the heart of our Engineering cluster lies the software engineering department, where we drive the development of cutting-edge combat and information management systems for naval vessels. Our expertise extends to seamless integration with sensor and weapon systems, alongside the creation of advanced sensor processing applications. These sophisticated systems are trusted by global partners, serving to protect lives and uphold the fundamental right of every individual to safety. At the core of critical operations, our software is the linchpin, ensuring resilience in the face of high-stakes scenarios.

Within the software engineering department, and more specifically for the CMS (Combat Management System) infrastructure team, we are in search of exceptional talent for a Team Software Architect (Medior / Senior).

About the job:

As a Team Software Architect, you will be working in a multidisciplinary Agile team. This team, along with other teams in the infrastructure group, develops and tests the infrastructure platform for the combat management systems. The development teams are responsible for the entire development chain – requirements analysis, design, development, integration, testing, validation, and demonstrating the current status of the product. The infrastructure we are currently developing will be the basis for our products and will run sometimes up to 30 years on a navy ship.

Tasks:

Together with the lead architect and the team of architects from the other scrum teams, you determine the technical vision and solutions.

  • Design robust software architecture for the issues you will solve within your scrum team,
  • Lead, coach, and technically manage (also remotely) a team of agile developers,
  • Develop software development processes to a higher standard,
  • Translating requirements into functional solutions.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve our products.
  • Ensure consistent compliance with best practices and coding standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and translate technical requirements.

Thales highly values the application of modern technologies and methodologies. The willingness and courage to investigate and implement new ways of working and/or technologies are expected.

About you:

Do you have a passion for technology, do you enjoy constantly developing your skills and are you interested in working on Naval systems? Then you are the person we are looking for.

You are a talented architect who enjoys specifying and designing IT infrastructure components together with our lead architect and the other team architects. You enjoy personal development both in hard skills and human skills.

Relevant experiences are:

  • Linux (5 years).
  • Ansible (3 years).
  • Network technologies (3 years; CCNA/CCIP level networking knowledge).
  • Experience with a number of the following tools and technologies: git, jira, confluence.
  • Agile methodologies.
  • You hold a bachelor or master degree in computer science, IT service management, or a comparable. Your colleagues are recognized experts in the field and will help you get up to speed and Thales will gladly invest in your development.
  • An important requirement to fulfill this role is flexibility and the ability to communicate fluently in English to all types (technical, management) of stakeholders.
  • EU nationality (for screening purposes, it's a mandatory requirement).

Thales offers you:

  • An interesting job in a high-tech environment.
  • A lot of room for your personal development and own initiatives.
  • The option to grow within the organization in different directions, including within engineering, into management, commercially or internationally.
  • An open and flexible working environment where work-life balance is considered very important.
  • 40 leave days per year.
